After completing his elementary education in Dobra, he studied at the Minor Seminary in Mikołów. On May 30th 1952 he made request for acceptance into the Salvatorian Novitiate. Beginning the Novitiate formation he took a new name of Hilary, which he used until January 1966. On August 15th 1953 he made his religious profession vows in Bagno. He studied philosophy and theology in Trzebinia and later at the Major Seminary in Bagno. Besides his academic courses, he studied Esperanto and after passing the exam at the Jagiellonian University, he received license to teach it at the elementary level. He made his perpetual profession on August 15th 1957 in Bagno. With thirteen other deacons, at the basilica of Trzebnica, on June 29th 1959, he was ordained to the Priesthood by the Most Rev. Bolesław Kominek, Bishop of Wrocław. The same year he began studies at the Catholic University of Lublin. Fr. Hochół devoted much of his time to young people, especially during vacations, organizing for them trips and summer camps; for participants he celebrated Holy Mass “sub divo,” having received a special permission from the Primate. On completing his studies in 1962 and earning his Master’s degree in Christian Philosophy with specialization in Philosophy and Psychology, he spent short time in Kraków and Zakopane. In 1963 he was transferred to the Major Salvatorian Seminary in Bagno, where he lectured psychology and other courses. He was also an educator. As prefect of seminarians, he often organized vacations, mainly in the mountains. He was also interested in photography. In 1967 his superiors entrusted to him young religious men in Kraków – Zakrzówek, where lived our seminarians, after completing novitiate formation, preparing themselves for High School final examination, and those, who wished to enter our novitiate. At the same time he also taught psychology, also at the Seminary of the Paulin Fathers in Kraków. Fr. Hochół considered moving to the United States for studies, but for various reasons he did not go there.

From 1970 Fr. Stanisław devoted himself mainly to pastoral work and to preaching spiritual retreats. In 1970-1975 he was a vicar in Międzyzdroje (then in the Diocese of Gorzów), later on, from 1975 until 1978, in Krzyż Wlkp. In 1972 he considered going to mission in Congo, but he resigned, thinking he was not prepared well enough.

From 1978, for few months, he was a chaplain to the Ursuline Sisters in Nałęczów. Since he did not consider himself a proper person for such role, his superiors transferred him in 1979 to Zakopane, where he was a catechist until 1985.

Mikołów in Silesia was his next community. In 1987-1990 he was its superior, then catechist and superior in nearby Śmiłowice. In 2001-2006 he was a chaplain to the Borromean Sisters in Żory, as member of Mikołów community. In 2006 he was transferred to Krzyż, where he worked in pastoral ministry.

Fr. Hochół passed away suddenly on September 14th 2010 in Krzyż Wlkp. His funeral took place at the Salvatorian church in Kraków – Zakrzówek, on September 18th. Fr. Piotr Filas, provincial superior, presided over the funeral Holy Mass and gave a homily. Our dearly departed Confrere was buried at our tomb in Kraków-Salwator.
