Fr. Andrzej Mikołajczyk was born on July 10th 1939 in Cracow. Along with his numerous siblings he was raised by their parents Bolesław and Eleonora nee Kubieniec. In 1953 he completed his education at the Elementary School in Prądnik Czerwony. During the years 1953-1955 he was a student at the Basic Vocational School of Metallurgy and Construction in Cracow. After the graduation he worked as turner. Certainly his parents’ example of Christian life was one of the reasons he chose religious vocation and Priesthood. In his certificate of good standing, given by his local priest in 1958, we can read, that “Andrzej Mikołajczyk comes from a truly pious family. His mother receives Holy Communion every day and his father on first Friday of each month. In such spirit they have been raising their children.” The fact that two of his brothers: Jan and Michał also chose priestly vocation, still confirms this opinion (they are priests of the Archdiocese of Cracow).

On September 7th 1958 he entered the Novitiate of the Society of the Divine Savior in Bagno. On that day he received his religious habit and name: Fryderyk. On September 8th 1959, in Bagno, he made his first religious profession. Then, during the years 1959-1961 he continued his education on a secondary level, which he completed in Cracow. Afterwards, in 1961-1967, he studied philosophy and theology at the Salvatorian Major Seminary in Bagno. He made his perpetual religious profession on September 8th 1962, in Bagno, when Fr. Zenon Zgudziak was the Provincial Superior. While studying at the Seminary, on January 8th 1966, he decided to use his Baptismal name and resigned from the use of his religious name.

On June 24th 1967, in Cracow, he was ordained to the Priesthood by the Most Rev. Julian Groblicki. During the month of August 1967 he substituted a local pastor at St. Catherine Parish in Tarnowskie Góry-Lasowice. Fr. Andrzej was assigned to the religious community in Cracow at Łobzowska Street #22, where he was a pastoral assistant in 1967-1968. At the time he also received his superiors’ permission for studies at the Pastoral Department of Franciscan Fathers in Cracow. In 1968-1969 Fr. Andrzej lived and worked as parochial vicar at the Salvatorian Parish in Trzebnica. Facing the needs of the Archdiocese of Wrocław, his superiors assigned him to the Parish in Gryfów Śląski, where in 1969-1970 he was a vicar. In 1970-1972 Fr. Mikołajczyk worked zealously as parochial vicar at St. Ann Parish in Świerklany, the Diocese of Katowice. In 1972 by the decision of his superiors, he moved to the religious house in Bielsko-Biała, where in 1972-1975 he was a vicar at Our Lady the Queen of Poland Parish. With permission of his superiors Fr. Mikołajczyk united his pastoral duties with studies of Pastoral Theology, which he began in 1972 in Katowice. In 1975 he moved to the new pastoral center in Piastów. Because of the change of his residence, he was permitted to continue his studies at the Academy of Catholic Theology in Warsaw. On June 21st 1976 he received his Masters’ Degree in Theology in Homiletics at the Academy. In the same year he began his doctoral studies at the Theology Faculty of the Academy of Catholic Theology in Warsaw. In 1976 he was appointed by his superiors as superior of the religious community in Piastów and responsible for the construction works. He involved then in the dynamic development of the pastoral center in Piastów and extensive help to the priests of the local parish. In 1979 Fr. Andrzej experienced first symptoms of illness, of which he mentioned in his letter to his superiors. Nonetheless he actively engaged himself for the sake of establishing the parish. His endeavors came to the fruitful end on April 12th 1981, when Stefan Cardinal Wyszyński, by his decree, divided the Parish of Our Lady of Częstochowa in Piastów and established the rectorate. Three years later, on November 15th 1984, St. Michael the Archangel Parish was established. Fr. Andrzej Mikołajczyk was appointed administrator and later on the pastor of the Parish. In 1981-1987 he served also as superior, treasurer and vice-superior of the religious community house in Piastów. Since 1984 Fr. Andrzej, because of state of his health was unable to continue his active pastoral ministry. Since then until his death, for 29 years, he carried the cross of his illness, offering his suffering to Jesus. At the time he lived at the religious community house in Piastów, where he has discovered for himself a new apostolate: writing books regarding religious issues. He was the author of three volumes on Polish Saints and Blessed, canonized and beatified by John Paul II; a biography of Bl. Edmund Bojanowski, St. Sister Faustyna Kowalska, Queen Hedwig, St. Albert Chmielowski and Bl. Bernardyna Jabłońska, among others.
